JEE Mains · Chemistry · STD 12 - 8.2 Carboxylic acids and their derivative

A solution of m-chloroaniline, \(m-\)chlorophenol and \(\mathrm{m}\) -chlorobenzoic acid in ethyl acetate was extracted initially with a saturated solution of \(\mathrm{NaHCO}_{3}\) to give fraction \(\mathrm{A}\). The left over organic phase was extracted with dilute \(NaOH\) solution to give fraction \(\mathrm{B}\). The final organic layer was labelled as fraction \(\mathrm{C}\). Fractions \(\mathrm{A},\mathrm{B}\) and \(\mathrm{C},\) contain respectively

  1. A \(\mathrm{m}\) -chlorobenzoic acid, \(\mathrm{m}\) -chloroaniline and \(\mathrm{m}\)-chlorophenol
  2. B \(\mathrm{m}\) -chloroaniline, \(\mathrm{m}\) -chlorobenzoic acid and \(\mathrm{m}\) -chlorophenol
  3. C \(\mathrm{m}\) -chlorobenzoic acid, \(\mathrm{m}\) -chlorophenol and \(\mathrm{m}\) -chloroaniline
  4. D \(\mathrm{m}\) -chlorophenol, \(\mathrm{m}\) -chlorobenzoic acid and \(\mathrm{m}\) -chloroaniline
