Pair-production means :
- A ejection of electron from a metal surface illuminated by U.V. radiation
- B annihilation of a gamma ray in to an electron and positron
- C ejection of electron from a nucleus
- D ionisation of neutral atom
Answer & Solution
Correct Answer
(B) annihilation of a gamma ray in to an electron and positron
Step-by-step Solution
Detailed explanation
Pair production is the process where a high-energy gamma ray photon converts its energy into a matter-antimatter pair consisting of an electron and a positron. This typically happens when the photon passes near an atomic nucleus. B) annihilation of a gamma ray in to an electron…

DNA Fingerprinting
Polymorphism in DNA sequence is the basis of genetic mapping of the human genome as well as of DNA fingerprinting. DNA fingerprinting involves identification of differences in some specific regions in the DNA sequence called repetitive DNA. It works on the principle of polymorphisms in DNA sequences. The repetitive DNA are separated from bulk genomic DNA. The bulk DNA forms a major peak and the other small peaks are referred to as satellite DNA. These repetitive/satellite DNA sequences show a high degree of polymorphisms and form the basis of DNA fingerprinting.
