A bulb of \( 100 \text{ W} \) glows for \( 6 \text{ hours} \) a day. The units of energy consumed in \( 7 \text{ days} \) would be :
- A \( 2.4 \text{ units} \)
- B \( 4.2 \text{ units} \)
- C \( 600 \text{ units} \)
- D \( 4200 \text{ units} \)
Answer & Solution
Correct Answer
(B) \( 4.2 \text{ units} \)
Step-by-step Solution
Detailed explanation
\( P = 100 \text{ W} = 0.1 \text{ kW} \) \( T_{\text{total}} = 6 \text{ hours/day} \times 7 \text{ days} = 42 \text{ hours} \) \( E = P \times T_{\text{total}} = 0.1 \text{ kW} \times 42 \text{ hours} = 4.2 \text{ kWh} \) \( E = 4.2 \text{ units} \)

- Read the passage carefully and answer the following questions
There are mainly four series of the transition metals, \(3 d\) series ( \(S c\) to Zn), \(4 d\) series (Y to Cd), \(5 d\) series (La and Hf to Hg ) and 6d series which has Ac and elements from Rf to Cn . The two series of the inner transition metals; \(4 f\) ( Ce to Lu ) and \(5 f\) (Th to Lr ) are known as lanthanoids and actinoids respectively. Their chemical properties are transitional between those of \(s\) and \(p\) block elements. The transition metals (with the exception of Zn, Cd and Hg) are very hard and have low volatility. Their melting and boiling points are high. Transition metals have incomplete d subshell either in neutral atom or in their ions. With partly filled d orbitals these elements exhibit certain characteristic properties such as display of a variety of oxidation states, formation of coloured ions and entering into complex formation with a variety of ligands. The transition metals and their compounds are known for their catalytic activity.
In general the electronic configuration of outer orbitals of transition metals is \((n - 1)d^{1-10}ns^{1-2}\) but Pd shows an exceptional electronic configuration as......CUET 2025 Easy - Answer the question on the basis of passage given below:
Second period elements of p-Block differs from the rest of their group members due to their small atomic size, high electronegativity, high ionization enthalpy and absence of d-orbitals. The elements from the second period like C, N, O have unique property of forming \(p \pi-p \pi\) multiple bonds whereas other heavier elements of p-block form \(d \pi-p \pi\) multiple bonds. This changes the properties of second period elements to great extent. Also the single bond strength of the p-block elements with their own atoms gets affected by their atomic size and presence of lone pairs.
Inert pair effect also affects the properties of the p-Block elements especially for those elements which are present from 4th period onward and this happens due to poor screening effect of inner (n-1)d subshell electrons.
