- Ethyl bromide is converted to succinic acid by using the following reagents in steps:
A. \(KCN\)
B. \(Br_2\)
C. \(KOH\ (alc.)\)

Choose the correct sequence of conversion:CUET 2023 Hard - Answer the question on the basis of passage given below:
Second period elements of p-Block differs from the rest of their group members due to their small atomic size, high electronegativity, high ionization enthalpy and absence of d-orbitals. The elements from the second period like C, N, O have unique property of forming \(p \pi-p \pi\) multiple bonds whereas other heavier elements of p-block form \(d \pi-p \pi\) multiple bonds. This changes the properties of second period elements to great extent. Also the single bond strength of the p-block elements with their own atoms gets affected by their atomic size and presence of lone pairs.
Inert pair effect also affects the properties of the p-Block elements especially for those elements which are present from 4th period onward and this happens due to poor screening effect of inner (n-1)d subshell electrons.

- Read the passage carefully and answer the questions
The carbonyl group of aldehydes and ketones is highly polar. The positively charged carbon is readily attacked by electron-rich nucleophile and the negatively charged oxygen atom is attacked by an electro-deficient electrophile. Aldehydes and ketones undergo nucleophilic addition reactions in the presence of acid or a base. The mechanism involves attack of a nucleophile on the electron deficient carbonyl carbon to form a tetrahedral intermediate. A new bond is formed between the carbon and oxygen. Protonation of the anion furnished by the reaction medium yields a neutral addition product. The addition product is same whether the reaction is catalyzed by acid or a base. For example in the presence of base aldehydes and ketones react with hydrogen cyanide to form cyanohydrin.

Choose the correct answer from the options given below :CUET 2023 Hard - There are two kinds of nucleases - exonucleases and endonucleases. Exonucleases remove nucleotides from the ends of the DNA whereas, endonucleases make cuts at specific positions within the DNA. The cutting of DNA by restriction endonucleases results in the fragments of DNA. These fragments can be separated by a technique known as gel electrophoresis. Since DNA fragments are negatively charged molecules they can be separated by forcing them to move towards the anode under an electric field through a medium/matrix. Small volume cultures cannot yield appreciable quantities of products. To produce in large quantities, the development of bioreactors, where large volumes (100 - 1000 litres) of culture can be processed, was required. Thus, bioreactors can be thought of as vessels in which raw materials are biologically converted into specific products, individual enzymes, etc., using microbial plant, animal or human cells. PCR stands for Polymerase Chain Reaction. In this reaction, multiple copies of the gene (or DNA) of interest are synthesised in vitro using two sets of primers (small chemically synthesised oligonucleotides that are complementary to the regions of DNA) and the enzyme DNA polymerase.
Which one of the following statements is correct about DNA separation and isolation?CUET 2025 Easy - Read the passage carefully and answer the questions.
Electrochemistry is the study involving two types of processes. One type involves the production of electricity from the energy released during a spontaneous chemical reaction. Galvanic cells like Daniel cells are used to produce electricity from the redox reaction. Nernst equation of a galvanic cell gives the relation between the standard cell potential and the concentration of the species involved in the redox reaction. The second type of study involves the cells in which electrical energy is used to bring about the chemical reactions in a non-spontaneous process. The conductance of electrolytic solution depends on many factors including the nature of the electrolyte and the dimensions of the electrolytic cell.
