Read the passage carefully and answer the Questions
The term vitamin was coined from the word vital +amine since the earlier identifiedc ompounds had amino groups. Later work showed that most of them didn't contain amino groups. They are very essential for the body. They has to be taken various diet or in the form of medicines also.
Vitamins are classified into two groups depending upon their solubility in water or fat.
Fat soluble vitamins are soluble in fat and oils but insoluble in water. They are stored in liver and adipose (fat storing) tissues Water-soluble vitamins are soluble in water. These must be supplied regularly in diet because they are readily excreted in urine and cannot be stored in our body.

Biomolecules are the organic compounds present as an essential constituents of living organisms in different cells. The molecules are generally termed as macromolecules, which are carbohydrates, enzymes, nucleic acids, amino acids and proteins etc. Carbohydrates are classified as sugars and non-sugars include sucrose, glucose, fructose, starch and cellulose. Enzymes are coordinated with various chemical reactions in nucleic acid. Nucleic acids are found in living organisms made up of proteins and natural polymers. Two types that are generally found in biological systems are DNA and RNA nucleic acid. Amino acids are bifunctional groups of carboxyl and amino groups. Proteins are a class of biologically important compounds. They are crucial to virtually all processes in living systems. Some of them are hormones, which serve as chemical messengers that coordinatecertain biochemical activities.

Amines are classified as primary \(\left(1^{\circ}\right)\), secondary \(\left(2^{\circ}\right)\) and tertiary \(\left(3^{\circ}\right)\) depending upon the number of hydrogen atoms replaced by alkyl or aryl groups in ammonia molecules. Aliphatic amines are a stronger bases due to \(+I\) effect of an alkyl groups. Intermolecular hydrogen bonding in primary and secondary amines affects the boiling points of amines. The intermolecular association is more in primary amines than in secondary amines as there are more number of hydrogen atoms available for hydrogen bond formation. Nitro compounds are reduced to amines by passing hydrogen gas in the presence of finely divided nickel, palladium or platinum and also by reduction with metals in an acidic medium. Gabriel synthesis is used for the preparation of primary amines. Primary amines react with nitrous acid to give unstable diazonium-salts which can be used to synthesize a variety of compounds.
