Read the passage carefully and answer the Questions
A homogeneous mixture of two or more than two components has uniform composition and properties. The binary solutions have two components, which may be solid, liquid or gas. The resultant solution has a larger amount of solvent and a smaller amount of solute. The amount of solute in a given amount of solvent decides the concentration of the resulting solution. The concentration can be expressed in various ways, like molarity, molality, normality and mole fraction.
Molarity of a solution containing 8 grams \(NaOH\) in one liter of water is:
- A \(0.25 mol / L\)
- B \(0.40 mol / L\)
- C \(0.50 mol / L\)
- D \(0.20 mol / L\)
Answer & Solution
Correct Answer
(D) \(0.20 mol / L\)
Step-by-step Solution
Detailed explanation
\(Molar \ mass \ of \ NaOH = 23 + 16 + 1 = 40 \ g/mol\) \(Moles \ of \ NaOH = \frac{Mass}{Molar \ mass} = \frac{8 \ g}{40 \ g/mol} = 0.2 \ mol\) \(Molarity = \frac{Moles \ of \ solute}{Volume \ of \ solution \ (L)} = \frac{0.2 \ mol}{1 \ L} = 0.20 \ mol/L\)

The chemical reactions proceed at different rates which depend on various factors like concentration, temperature, etc. Rate law is an expression which relates the rate of reaction with concentration of various reacting species in the reaction. For a first order reaction, the concentration of the reactant after time \(t\) is related with its initial concentration by the relation, \(C=C_0 e^{-k t}\). The rate constants for different orders have different expressions. For a first order reaction, \(k=\frac{2.303}{t} \log \frac{a}{a-x}\), where \(a\) is the initial concentration and \(x\) is the extent of reaction.
A reaction which is first order with respect to the reactant \(A\) has a rate constant of \(6 min^{-1}\). If the reaction is started with \([A]=5.0 mol L ^{-1}\) when would \([A]\) reach the value of \(0.05 mol L ^{-1}\)CUET 2025 Easy - Read the passage carefully and answer the questions.
Amines are considered to be derivatives of ammonia obtained by replacement of hydrogen atoms with alkyl or aryl groups. They are usually prepared from nitro compounds, halides, amides, imides etc. The presence of hydrogen bonding influences its physical properties. In alkylamines, a combination of electron releasing steric and hydrogen bonding factors influences the stability of substituted ammonium cations in protic polar solvents and thus affects the basic nature of amines. Alkyl amines are found to be stronger bases than ammonia which is more basic than water. Primary and secondary amines are engaged in intermolecular association due to hydrogen bonding. This intermolecular association is more in primary amines than in secondary amines. Tertiary amines do not have intermoleulcar association due to the absenceof hydrogen atom available for hydrogen bonding. Thus, the boiling point of amines depends on hydrogen bonding. In aromatic amines, electron releasing and withdrawing groups increase and decrease their basic character. Aryl diazonium salts usually obtained from arylamine undergo replacement of the diazonium group with a variety of nucleophile. Their coupling reaction of aryl diazonium salts with phenol or arylamine results in formation of dyes.

Insulin consists of two short polypeptide chains : chain A and chain B, that are linked together by disulphide bridges. The first clinical gene therapy was given in 1990 to a 4-year old girl with adenosine deaminase (ADA) deficiency. This enzyme is crucial for the immune system to function. Recombinant DNA technology, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Enzyme Linked Immuno-sorbent Assay (ELISA) are some of the techniques that serve the purpose of early diagnosis of diseases. Transgenic animals that produce useful biological products can be created by the introduction of the portion of DNA (or genes) which codes for a particular product such as human protein (α-1-antitrypsin) used to treat emphysema. Biopiracy is the term used to refer to the use of bio-resources by multinational companies and other organisations without proper authorisation from the countries and people concerned without compensatory payment.
