In the electrophilic substitution reactions of aniline, the \(- NH _2\) group acts
- A As ortho directing group only
- B As para directing group only
- C As both Ortho and para directing group
- D As meta directing group only
Answer & Solution
Correct Answer
(C) As both Ortho and para directing group
Step-by-step Solution
Detailed explanation
The \( - NH _2 \) group activates the benzene ring and directs electrophiles to ortho and para positions due to its strong +M effect. As both Ortho and para directing group

- Answer the question on basis of passage given below :
Alcohols and phenol are formed when a hydrogen atom in a hydrocarbon, aliphatic and aromatic respectively, is replaced by -OH group. The substitution of a hydrogen atom in a hydrocarbon by an alkoxy or aryloxy group forms ethers.
Alcohols and phenol consist of two part, an alkyl/aryl group and a hydroxyl group. The properties of alcohols and phenols are primarily due to the hydroxyl group. The nature of alkyl and aryl groups simply modify these properties. Alcohol react both as nucleophiles and electrophiles whereas in phenols, the reactions that take place on the aromatic ring are electrophilic subtitution reactions.

The osmotic pressure is one of the four colligative properties which depends on the number of particles of solute in the solution, irrespective of their nature. The osmotic pressure is equal to the product of concentration, gas constant and temperature. It is the most commonly used property for the determination of the molar mass of biomolecules. In many situations, the molecules get dissociated or associated when they are dissolved in a solvent, thereby changing the number of molecules in the solution. As a result, an abnormal molecular mass is obtained. The extent of dissociation or association is given by van't Hoff factor (i), which is the ratio of normal molar mass to abnormal molar mass. It is related with the degree of association or ionization. The introduction of van't Hoff factor in the osmotic pressure equation modifies the equation.
How is the osmotic pressure of a concentrated solution related to the osmotic pressure of a dilute solution of the same substance at a given temperature?CUET 2025 Hard - Arrange the following electrolytes in the increasing order of van't Hoff factor (i) for complete dissociation of solute.

Choose the correct answer from the options given below:CUET 2023 Medium - Read the passage carefully and answer the questions. Electrochemistry is the study involving two types of processes. One type involves the production of electricity from the energy released during a spontaneous chemical reaction. Galvanic cells like Daniel cells are used to produce electricity from the redox reaction. Nernst equation of a galvanic cell gives the relation between the standard cell potential and the concentration of the species involved in the redox reaction. The second type of study involves the cells in which electrical energy is used to bring about the chemical reactions in a non-spontaneous process. The conductance of electrolytic solution depends on many factors including the nature of the electrolyte and the dimensions of the electrolytic cell.
