Choose the correct statement about molar conductivity, \(\Lambda_m\)
- A Molar conductivity of a weak electrolyte decreases gradually as the concentration of the electrolyte decreases in the higher concentration ranges
- B Molar conductivity of a strong electrolyte increases linearly with the increase in the concentration of the electrolyte
- C As the concentration of a weak electrolyte approaches zero, there is a sharp increase in the molar conductivity of the solution
- D The limiting molar conductivity of a weak electrolyte can be determined directly from the plot of \(\Lambda_m\) against c
Answer & Solution
Correct Answer
(C) As the concentration of a weak electrolyte approaches zero, there is a sharp increase in the molar conductivity of the solution

Replacement of a hydrogen atom in a hydrocarbon by an alkoxy or carboxyl group yields a class of compounds known as ethers. Ethers are classified as symmetrical or unsymmetrical on the basis of groups attached to the oxygen atoms. Diethyl ether, a symmetrical ether, has been widely used as an inhalation anesthetic. Ethers can be prepared by acid catalyzed intermolecular dehydration of alcohols and Williamson's synthesis. Acid catalyzed dehydration of alcohols is not generally preferred as it gives a mixture of elimination and substitution products. In Williamson's synthesis, an alkyl halide is allowed to react with sodium alkoxide. Ethers containing substituted Alkyl groups may also be prepared by this method. The C-O bond in ether is weakly polar and is cleaved under drastic conditions with excess of hydrogen halides. In electrophilic substitution, the alkoxy group deactivates the aromatic ring and directs the incoming group to ortho and para positions.

Choose the correct answer from the options given below:CUET 2025 Easy - p-block elements are placed in groups 13 to 18 of the periodic table. Group 15 is nitrogen family. Nitrogen makes various compounds like \(NH _3, HNO _3, N_2 O , NO _2\) etc. Phosphorus exists in the form of white and red phosphorus. White phosphorus glows in dark. \(PH _3\) gas is used as smoke screen. Group 16 is called oxygen family. Dry air contains \(21\% O _2\) gas by volume. Combined sulphur exists as sulphates such as gypsum, epsome salt, baryte etc. The allotropic forms of sulphur are Rhombic and monoclinic sulphur. \(S_2\) is paramagnetic like \(O_2\) and it stable at high temperature.
Group 17 is Halogen family. \(F_2\) is highly reactive, \(Cl _2\) is greenish yellow gas. Both \(SO _2\) and \(Cl _2\) are used for bleaching. Group 18 is Noble gas family but some noble gases also form compounds.
Complete hydrolysis of \(XeF _6\) gives HF and \(XeO _3\) as main products.

ABO blood groups in human beings are controlled by the gene I. The plasma membrane of the red blood cells has sugar polymers that protrude from its surfaces and the kind of sugar is controlled by the gene. The gene (I) has three alleles IA, IB and I. The alleles IA and IB produce a slightly different form of the sugar while allele i does not produce any sugar. Because humans are diploid organisms, each person possesses any two of the three I gene alleles, IA and IB are completely dominant over I.
