Pyramid of which of the following is inverted?
(A) The pyramid of biomass in sea
(B) The pyramid of numbers in grassland
(C) The pyramid of biomass in terrestrial food chain
(D) The pyramid of number of insects feeding on a big tree
Choose the correct answer from the options given below :
- A (A) and (D) only
- B (A) and (B) only
- C (C) and (D) only
- D (B) and (C) only
Answer & Solution
Correct Answer
(A) (A) and (D) only
Step-by-step Solution
Detailed explanation
The pyramid of biomass in the sea is inverted (phytoplankton biomass is less than zooplankton biomass at any given time). The pyramid of numbers of insects feeding on a big tree is inverted (1 tree supports many insects). The correct option is (A) and (D).

Polymorphism in DNA sequence is the basis of genetic mapping of the human genome as well as of DNA fingerprinting. DNA fingerprinting involves identification of differences in some specific regions in the DNA sequence called repetitive DNA. It works on the principle of polymorphisms in DNA sequences. The repetitive DNA are separated from bulk genomic DNA. The bulk DNA forms a major peak and the other small peaks are referred to as satellite DNA. These repetitive/satellite DNA sequences show a high degree of polymorphisms and form the basis of DNA fingerprinting.

The inheritance of flower color in the dog flower (Snapdragon or Antirrhinum sp.) can be understood by crossbreeding between true-breeding red-flowered (RR) and true-breeding white-flowered plants (rr). When they were crossed, F₁ (Rr) was pink. When F₁ was self-pollinated, the F₂ results were Red, Pink and White. Here the genotype ratios were exactly as expected, but the phenotype ratios have been changed. What happened was that R was not completely dominant over r and this made it possible to distinguish Rr as pink from RR (Red) and rr (White).
What will be the percentage of progeny in F₁ generation when RR (red flowered plant) is crossed with rr (white flowered plant) in the above passage?CUET 2025 Medium - Amniocentesis is used in the prenatal diagnosis of:CUET 2023 Easy
